Office Storage Racks: Ideas for Archive Rooms, IT Stores and Pantries

White boltless storage racks installed in a new office store room

Racking is not just for warehouses. In an office environment, a few well-chosen racks turn a cluttered store room into somewhere you can find a file, a spare laptop or a box of printer paper in seconds. Here are practical ideas for the three office stores we fit out most.

Why steel racks work in offices

  • Clean look. White powder-coated steel looks at home next to a modern office fit-out.
  • No drilling. Freestanding boltless racks leave nothing to make good when your lease ends — important in managed buildings.
  • Adjustable. Shelf levels move in minutes when your storage needs change.
  • Strong enough. At 200kg per level, our boltless rack carries far more than any shelf of files.

1. The archive and records room

Many businesses need to keep financial records for several years. Archive boxes quickly fill a room. Ideas that work:

  • Choose a shelf depth that fits your archive boxes snugly — 40cm suits most standard boxes.
  • Label each bay by year and each shelf by department.
  • Put the current year at waist height; move older years up as new ones arrive.
  • Keep a destruction schedule taped to the rack, so boxes past their retention date are shredded on time.

2. The IT and equipment store

Laptops awaiting re-imaging, monitors, docking stations, cables and spare keyboards. Use clear tubs by category on the shelves, keep heavy items such as UPS units and monitors on lower levels, and keep one shelf as a "returns and faulty" zone so broken kit is never redeployed by mistake. For server spares and heavier technical equipment, the 400kg warehouse rack is the better fit.

3. The pantry and supplies cupboard

Drinks, snacks, paper, cleaning supplies. Shallow 40cm shelves keep everything visible, which makes it easy to see what to re-order. Keep cleaning products on their own shelf below food items.

Marketing and events storage

Banners, booth panels and brochures are awkward: long, light and fragile. A 140cm-long boltless bay with widely spaced levels handles roll-up banners and boxed collateral, with the brochures you use most at eye level.

Installing in an office building

Building management often requires deliveries through the loading bay and goods lift, with work done after office hours. Boltless racks are quiet to assemble and need no drilling, so installation is quick and tidy. Our crew can schedule evenings or weekends.

Moving office? Plan storage with the fit-out

When moving, measure the new store room early and plan racks alongside the fit-out. Racks from your old office can come with you — boltless systems dismantle and rebuild easily.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What rack is best for an office store room?

A white boltless rack, 40–50cm deep. It looks clean, needs no drilling and holds 200kg per level.

Do office racks need to be fixed to the wall?

Normally no — they are freestanding. We advise anchoring only where a tall run stands in a busy area.

How many archive boxes fit on a shelf?

A 100cm shelf usually takes three standard archive boxes side by side; a 120cm shelf takes three with room to spare.

Can racks be installed after office hours?

Yes, evenings and weekends by arrangement. See our delivery policy.

Can I take the racks with me when we move office?

Yes. Boltless racks dismantle without tools and reinstall at the new address.
